So much for Summer!

July 29th

Results and teams are posted, though the 17s will be later.
Only five league games left for the seconds, thirds and fourths - where did the time go??

July 21st

Records were broken this weekend with the Thirds winning their first game, and for the Fourths, Nathen Griffiths batting right through for 165 not out.
The Fourths won, obviously, as did the Seconds with 111 n.o. from Paul Evans, though the Firsts lost at Sully.

More details on the Results page.
The Teams are there but check for changes this week as the Under 17s side needs to be added.

And the weather was kind to us for another great Hog Roast. Thanks to all involved especially Tom's BBQ team.

July 15th

Like last season things are coming together for the Firsts in the second half of the season. A convincing win overs St Fagans last Saturday continues the trend. The Fourths also had a strong win and are now well into the top half of the table. The weather again defeated the Seconds and Thirds. Some more details are on the results page.

The Teams are there, early this week!

July 10th

The teams are now available. Sorry for the late appearance, but things have been busy.

One of these things was a very successful day for our Chance to shine schools at Cwmbran stadium on Wednesday. Eventual winners were Our Lady's beating Coed Eva in a final over that went back and fore between the two sides.

July 2nd

Teams are there.

Wins for the first and seconds last weekend, both after poor starts. See Results.

June 26th

The teams are now there.
There have been some corrections made to both sets of batting averages.
The Third batting was bad anough without me forgetting to add in a whole match.

June 23rd

The weather put paid to any results on Saturday.
The Under 17s played on Sunday in the wind, but didn't  get off to a successful start.
Selection this week is delayed to Wednesday, so the teams won't be up till Thursday.

June 19th

The under 17s team is now available.

June 17th

With dark storm clouds obscuring Twm Barlum the Seconds made the unusual decision to declare and get the opposition in.
See the results page. Elsewhere, there was also a win for the Fourths, but the other games had a negative result.

Hog Roast is scheduled for 19th July. More details soon.

June 10th

The Fourths are home on Saturday on the MAIN ground.
As the Firsts have had to swop venues with Penarth, we don't need to go to the Girlings ground.

SUBS are still due.

Many have yet to pay.
See Andrew Beal to make your payment.

An eventful weekend with the Firsts in an unusual situation with a rain interrupted match, the Seconds having a 10 wicket win and a stoppage for injury, and the Fourths finding that Blaengarw really did exist, even if the ground was small and surrounded by rhodedendrons.
See the results page.
The teams are there now.

June 3rd
The teams are back available on-line.
There wins for 1sts and 2nds, and on Sunday, but Mountain Ash proved a bogey side for the 3rds and 4ths.

May 20th
The teams are posted, though next week this service won't be available. You'll have to go back to looking at the team sheet or phoning the captain.
No teams for the Under 25 v Over 25 on the Bank Holiday Monday are produced. You can sign up for your side on the Weekend.

Only the Firsts played at the weekend. See the results page.

Junior News
Calum Reid, Alex Kemp-Taylor and Lewis Pheasant are all in the Wales Under 13 team.

May 13th
Teams are selected. BUT there's no 4th game 'cos of the Cup Final. Special arrangements from the League allow teams to cancel if they have lots of players at Wembley. Apologies to those not getting a game this week.

SUBS are now due.
You need to pay by the end of the month or you won't be covered by the club insurance.
See Andrew Beal to make your payment.

Success at the weekend depended on the toss. Both the 3rds and 4ths lost the toss and lost the match.
See the Results page.

May 6th
 Teams are selected.

The weekend had losses for the First and Seconds but a win for the Fourths.
Sunday's Cup match has been postponed by 2 weeks.

Details on Results page.

April 29th

Selection for the weekend teams is done.

The Thirds friendly has been cancelled, as St Peters have now found a league to play in. So there are plenty of bodies for the Fourths. Apologies to those asked to play and now without a game.  Don't forget players always drop out from the other teams so there's still a chance of a game.

Subscritions are now due. £65 for senior players.
You have until the end of May. Direct Debit is available. See Andrew Beal or any Captain.
(How much does just one round of golf cost??)

April 23rd

Fixtures now available.

April 22nd

First League game for the Firsts coming up. Its away at St Fagans just to make things easy.

The teams are available now.

The friendly/trial/practice match with the 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and Girlings will be a bit flexible. If we get enough for 14 a side then we'll do it. England did in their New Zealand warm up .... but then again maybe thats not a good example.

Fixtures will be along very shortly.

April 17th

Teams are now available for the weekend.

The first weekend was a washout. Not surprising this early in the year.
Two friendlies this weekend.
Saturday 26th the Firsts are away to St. Fagans while the 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and Girlings have a friendly/trial/practice match at the Main ground.
Then another friendly on the 27th.

April 9th

News

The first game is this Saturday the 12th at home.
Teams should be posted soon.
Delays to the fixtures being produced is due to having to wait for the Newport and Districy fixtures.

The ground is looking good and the square has had plenty of rolling.

March 31st

GroundWork Day v 2.0

Last Saturday's weather was foul. So ground work will have to be this Saturday  5th April, 10:30.
Bring your workgloves and battery-powered drills, sanders and paintbrushes.
It's got to be done so we'll use Sunday if needed.

March 16th

Nets

Easter Sunday coming up, so no Rougemont session on the 23rd March, but back to normal after that.
The first game is on Saturday 12th April, with the first League game for the 1sts on the 26th April.

GroundWork Day

Yes, the boards and sightscreens and scorebox and benches and nets all need their yearly maintainance.
So its Saturday 29th March, and Sunday 30th, if necessary for the work. Nice early start at 10:30, plenty of bodies and get it all done by lunchtime.

Glamorgan Allocation

We have been allocated a Glamorgan Player for the coming season. There were only 12 players available and 20 plus clubs asking for them, so its a compliment that we get one.

Will Bragg is a Development Player with Glamorgan. He's played One Day and full Championship matches, and scored runs off Andy Caddick. Also, Will has played lots of times for Wales Minor Counties and we're looking forward to him opening the batting and scoring loads of runs.

February 26th

Nets

This Sunday, March 2nd there will be no net session for the Under 13s. They are instructed to make sure their Mothers get a nice present.

February 20th

3rd and 4th Teams

It can now be finally confirmed that this season the 3rds and 4ths will be playing at the Girlings sports ground instead of at the Comprehensive School.  This will provide a better playing surface, more wickets and better facilities to promoted development of  our young players. There will also be players from Girlings joining us and this will add stability and experience to both teams. The improved playing strength will allow our youngsters to perform in matches where we are competing hopefully with enough runs on the board, rather than in a desparate attempt to put up a respectable show.

The teams should be more stable and the introduction young players to senior cricket will be more planned, rather than by a pleading phone call at 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday.

February 18th
